JES is a Jingjiang-based shipbuilding firm specializing in bulk carriers, containerships, offshore engineering barges, and car carriers. The singapore-listed shipyard was the second China’s private shipbuilding company successfully listed on overseas stock exchange, following the footstep of New Yangtze Shipyard(Yangzijiang).
Its shipyard, is located at Shiwei Port, Jingliang City in Jiangsu Province of eastern China. The shipyard has a 720 meter long coastline with access to deep water and stable currents. The facilities at Shiwei Yard are located on a gross land area of 167,000 sq m, and include two slipways equipped with gantry cranes, two outfitting wharfs, a hull and section steel shop, a subassembly shop, a block assembly shop, a metal treatment shop, two paint shops, a pipe shop, and an electrical shop that cover every stage of the shipbuilding process.
As part of JES's business strategy, it plans to increase production capacity by expanding its shipyard through the construction of a 400 meter long by 140 meer wide dry dock, a hull steel structure shop with an area of 100,000 sq m and auxiliary facilities, one 1,200 ton and two 400 ton gantry cranes and other lifting equipment. It plans to expand the shipyard on land adjacent to the existing facility and expects to benefit from 286 meters of additional deep water coastline.
JES delivered 5 ships during 2006 (3 bulk carriers, 1 crane barge, and 1 RO/RO), compared to 3 ships during 2005 (1 bulk carrier, 1 containership, and 1 crane barge). As of 30 June 2007, JES had 21 vessels under construction (11 bulk carriers, 9 containerships, and 1 crane barge)... and an order book of just over US billion.
